Dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid(DBSA) can be used as a catalyst for the esterification of fatty acids (oleic acids) to produce biodiesel. It can be used as a Bronsted acid catalyst for the green synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives which are used in a variety of pharmacological profiles. It may be electrodeposited with polypyrrole(PPy) films on the aluminium alloy to protect against corrosion. Water based nanofluids with enhanced thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity may be prepared by doping polyanaline (PANI) into dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid. Dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid is also a dopant for conducting polymers and a strong acid catalyst for amino crosslinked coatings.
Agricultural Uses
Insecticide, Adjuvant, Biocide: Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid and its salts are used as degreasers in meat-cutting rooms. Also used as a laboratory chemical, to make detergents, and in electronically cleaning and pickling baths. Not listed for use in EU countries. Approved for use in the U.S. and other countries. There are 30 global suppliers.
For detergent production
It is one of the main raw materials for synthetic detergents, possessing excellent cleaning, emulsifying and foaming properties, and can effectively remove oil stains and stains from clothing surfaces, as well as from tableware, etc.
As an emulsifier
It is used as an emulsifier in processes such as emulsion polymerization to help form a stable emulsion system, allowing two insoluble liquids to be uniformly mixed.
For lubricant formulation
It can be used as a lubricant additive, exerting certain lubrication and anti-wear effects, thereby enhancing the lubrication performance.
For chemical synthesis
It is an important intermediate in organic synthesis and can be further synthesized into other organic compounds, such as the preparation of alkylbenzene sulfonates.
