Vitamin E (VE) consists of eight substances including α, β, δ, γ types of tocopherols and corresponding tocotrienols. It is a fat-soluble vitamin and has various important physiological functions such as anti-free radicals, anti-aging, prevention of skin keratinization, improvement of physical and immune functions of humans and animals, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. VE has two major sources: natural vitamin E (ChemicalbookE) and synthetic VE. Natural vitamin E is a mixture of various monomers of tocopherols, but both in terms of physiological activity and antioxidant capacity, natural vitamin E is superior to synthetic VE. Moreover, natural vitamin E is non-toxic and has no side effects on the human body.
